It’s not enough to find a pretty shoe.
Or a modern shoe.
Or a trendy shoe.
Or even a “perfectly styled” shoe.
Your outfit isn’t finished until you’ve found you in a shoe.
And once you understand that, your entire wardrobe changes.
Because style isn’t about checking boxes. It’s about recognition. That moment when you see a piece and think, Oh my goodness… they made this for me. Like someone out there understood your personality, your humor, your heart, your quirks, and turned it into an accessory.
That’s what “you in a shoe” really means.

The Wardrobe Pyramid (And Why Most People Stop Too Soon)

I teach wardrobe building in three layers:
- Modern Classics
These are your foundation. The connectors. The versatile, timeless pieces that make your wardrobe functional. - Modern Updates
This is where color, texture, and freshness come in. These pieces add variety and keep your wardrobe from feeling stale. - Personality Pieces (What I used to call Statement Pieces)
This is where your style becomes personal.
Not just stylish.
Not just flattering.
But unmistakably you.
Most women stop at level one or two. They build a wardrobe that works… but doesn’t light them up. And then they say:
“I did everything right… why do my outfits still feel flat?”
Because modern classics were never meant to be a standalone wardrobe.
Three basics together just make… a basic outfit.
It’s the personality pieces that bring the soul.
Statement vs Personality

I don’t love the word “statement” anymore. It sounds shallow. Like something bold just for attention.
I prefer personality pieces.
A personality piece doesn’t just say “look at me.”
It says “this is me.”
And there’s a huge difference.
A stylish piece looks good on everyone.
A personality piece looks right on you and slightly wrong on anyone else.
That’s the magic.
My “You in a Bag” Moment

My ultimate example is my Kate Spade Miss Piggy bag.
It’s pink.
It’s 3D.
It says “There’s no such thing as casual Friday.”
Miss Piggy was my style icon when I was eight. Glamorous, feminine, dramatic, a little ridiculous in the best way.
When I saw that bag, I honestly felt like I was being pranked. Like someone had built it specifically for me.
That’s what “you in a bag” feels like.
Not everyone loves it.
Good.
That means it’s doing its job.
Why Essentials Alone Can Feel Like a Costume

When I wear something too classic, I feel fake.
When I wear something sporty, I feel like I’m pretending.
Not because those styles are wrong — they’re just not me.
And when your clothes don’t reflect your personality, something inside you gets muted. Your energy gets quieter. Your presence gets smaller.
Style is instant language.
People should feel your personality before you even speak.
How to Find You in a Shoe

You don’t start with shoes.
You start with words.
For me, my style is:
- Feminine
- Whimsical
- Bold
- Creative
Not just one of those. All of them together.
So:
- All-feminine shoes are pretty… but incomplete.
- All-quirky shoes are fun… but incomplete.
It’s only when feminine and whimsical collide that I say,
“Yes. That’s me in a shoe.”
That level of precision is what makes personality pieces powerful.
Stylish vs Personal

Stylish = anyone could wear it
Personal = it feels like it was made for you
Stylish = looks good
Personal = feels like home

Just one in each category.

We live in a world where everyone shops the same stores and sees the same inspiration.
Personality pieces are what stop your wardrobe from becoming beige and forgettable.
They’re your anchors.
Your signature.
Your identity.
They make simple outfits intentional.
They make people remember you.
They make your clothes feel like home.
And most importantly, they give you permission to become more yourself, not less, as you get older.
For me, 2026 is the year I’m leaning fully into my feminine, whimsical, bold style.
What are your words?
Because once you find them, you’ll never shop the same way again.
