Great outfits don’t just magically appear in your closet. (Unless you have a personal stylist, like me. Reply with the word OUTFITS if you want to know how that works!). But still, someone has to create them.
Fortunately, I’ve developed a simple 3 step system to help you create an outfit in an easy and creative way. (Why are there always 3 steps? Why not 2? Or 7?)
Outfit Creation in 3 Steps
- Pick a piece you kinda feel like wearing. This is your Outfit Starter Piece.
- Describe the piece. i.e. you are frilly, or “you are minimal, with clean lines and a neutral color”
- Decide whether you want to mix or match. Do you want to stay with the personality of the piece, or be a rebel and take it in the opposite direction. This can depend on your personal style, what you have to work with, your day, and even your mood.
That’s it. Kind of. Now you’ve got to put the pieces together and tweak them until you like the way they look.
This is why we “style” our outfits rather than simply “wearing” them.
We might put them on and decide the outfit needs a few tweaks, or a full overhaul. Eventually, this process gets easier and easier and there’s less trial and error.
In today’s video, I’m excited to be working with Petite Studio to style brand new items from their spring collection (with some of the basics from previous seasons) for spring 2024.

Monday
On Monday, I decided to style the Helen Blouse in an old money elegant-but-feminine look for a day that included meetings, a Bible study, and dinner at my mom’s.
Outfit Details:
- Helen Blouse
- Fallon Pants
- Brown Mules (similar)
- YSL Belt (similar)

Tuesday
Tuesdays are video premier days, plus I host a Zoom call, run errands, etc. This particular Tuesday also ended with a girls’ night.
I experimented with my black Veronica Beard clogs (too wintery) and my suede Viscata mules (too summery) before settling on these trusty slingbacks.

Wednesday
Wednesday is the day I shoot videos, so I often don’t put on my final outfit until later, but I couldn’t wait to put this on. One of my faves of the week. I just love the feminine blouse and accessories with jeans.
- Silver Mary Jane Pumps (similar)
- Rafe Laos Clutch
- Tillie Cotton Blouse
- H&M Jeans (similar)

Thursday
Lunch with a friend, a client shopping trip and an evening meeting called for a comfortable outfit that still had some polish. I am obsessed with this pretty feminine black blouse with cream embroidery, and decided to play up the color palette with the Alix pants and these old BCBG fave shoes from my Archives.
- Xandra Blouse
- Alix Pants
- Shoes (similar) or these
- Straw bag (similar, mine is vintage)

Friday
Video premier, date night, lunch with a friend, and lots of running around, Friday needed an outfit that could take me from day to night with comfort and style. I am obsessed with this Sylvie dress, which is both feminine and comfortable. I’m tempted to also wear it for Easter.

Saturday
Saturday was long and busy. I took my daughter to a tournament in Orlando for the day (we left EARLY) and then ended the day with a casual date night. The Blaise cardigan turned the cream knit top and leather shorts into an outfit.

There you have it! A week’s worth of outfits from my actual life. Which of these outfits did you like best? And which outfit formula can you use with your own wardrobe?
Don’t forget: If you love some of the Petite Studio pieces I’m showing, you can shop them for 25% off using my code nada25 but only through April 2!
