You know those days when you just need to be comfortable? No? Oh, wait. Do you actually want to be comfortable every day? That’s strange. Well, fine, Be comfortable. But you can’t also be cute.
Just kidding! Sort of. I mean, isn’t that what we often tell ourselves? That we can EITHER be comfortable OR cute. And that our casual outfits have to be super casual and bordering on sloppy while our nicer outfits are reserved for just superdressy things like the opera and we haven’t been in 12 years so can’t wear them.
Maybe, just maybe, we can have both. Maybe we can find a way to combine the dressy pieces we are not wearing and the athleisure pieces that we are overwearing in only super-casual ways and turn them into cute outfits. What would that mean for our wardrobes? For our style?
I’ll tell you what it would mean. It would mean wearing more of your wardrobe and looking super CUTE but also super COMFORTABLE every single day. It’s totally possible. And today I’m going to show you how.
I’ll be styling comfy basics (leggings and joggers) as well as pieces you might not have considered comfy basics (a casual dress, and the comfiest VIRAL wide-leg pants that look like fancy pants but feel like sweats), and I’ll show you how I elevate them and turn them into cute outfits.
I’m featuring items from Halara, which I highly recommend, but you can sub out similar items from your own wardrobe.
But first, 3 tips to get you started.
- Pair casual with dressy. Pairing your more elevated pieces with athleisure pieces is a way to get more use out of both and create outfits that work with your everyday lifestyle.
- Focus on beauty. No outfit is complete without hair, makeup, grooming. Hit that level that makes you feel the best every single day.
- Accessorize. Just because an outfit is casual doesn’t mean it can’t be accessorized. Cool shoes, bags, jewelry, scarves and hats are all the missing pieces you need to finish off a look.

Why I love them: These jeans are super stretcy and comfy in a pull-on style. I would NOT show the waistband, so I’m wearing them with a top that covers the waistband.
