There are no safe stores, ladies. Trust me, I checked. Pretty much EVERY store has beautiful, stylish and modern items alongside frumpy, saggy, and bad items. Sad, isn’t it? It’s a JUNGLE out there. Fortunately, I’m here as your fashion interpreter, to help you navigate the key items and trends of the season to find only the best and skip the rest.
None of these is a must-have, of course. You could easily decide to sit this season out and stick with what you have. But if, like many women, you enjoy a little seasonal wardrobe refresh, this list offers a good place to start.
Everything in this video can be found here in this catalog.
The Printed Top
A fun printed top is a pretty and easy update for spring. Yes, florals prevail this time of year, as well as the usual conversation prints, stripes and checks, but this year they are also joined by polka dots, which are trending.

The Knit Top
From tees to fine ribbed sweaters and polos, knit tops are everywhere this season, but as always there are good and bad ones. Skip the splashy printed tees from mature brands and instead stick with a simple stripe or solid.

The Floral Dress
A good floral dress should feature a modern pattern and a flattering silhouette. The ones on the don’t buy list definitely don’t check either of those boxes.

The Tailored Short
Tailored Bermuda shorts offer a cool alternative to skirts and pants in warmer months, but the oversized baggy variety shown by so many brands is not flattering to anyone.

The Spring Jacket
There are some fun new trend jackets to check out this season, including cropped styles (including cropped trenches), short sleeved styles, and peplum jackets. Skip jackets with bad prints and dated embellishments.

The Lace Top
Lace is always a pretty choice for spring, but this season, brands are showing this feminine fabric in everything from blazers and pants to dresses and tops.

The Spring Stripe
Stripes are practically mandatory in spring, but picking the right one is essential. Keep the strong and simple for the most modern look.

The Cool Flat
Flats are never out of style, but this year we have more options than ever, from ballet flats to mary janes, loafers to slides.

Light Blue
There are a lot of color trends for spring, but light blue feels fresh and pretty and is an easy, accessible way to add a little (neutral) color to your spring wardrobe.

Not That
This hue in a classic style like this can look a little lackluster. This isn’t bad but it’s also not awesome.

What do you think of my hits and misses from Nordstrom for spring? Which of these trends would you consider trying this season? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks Zaeobi. Great question! Yes rosettes are in but that shape with the scrunch back and the toe is out. That is not what the modern rosette looks like. Here are some examples of modern rosette shoes. https://www.cparavano.com/products/pink-flower-decor-ballerina?currency=USD&variant=45372800467259&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Google%20Shopping&stkn=b229f299b207&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=CPC&utm_campaign=Pmax_listing_Feeds2&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAivGuBhBEEiwAWiFmYWyaq9908tc4akJtiVw0hhzQ9tt-Pq_VI-Bs7162g_Or_3ajAzIOkBoCBNMQAvD_BwE

Hi Nada, I was wondering about the ‘flats’ options – could you explain a bit more about why the black flats with the leather flowers on top are ‘out’? I thought rosettes were meant to be ‘in’ this season?
