Are you an overthinker? I know I am. I overthink my relationships and my daughters’ relationships and the length of time it takes for certain people to text me back and whether my sciatica is going to get worse and whether or not I want to have a facelift someday. I think a lot about alllll the things. The one thing I don’t overthink, however, is a capsule wardrobe.
People like to make it sound fancy and romanticize it, but really it’s just a group of separates that all go together. It’s not complicated, at all, but it can take a little trial and error at the beginning. In today’s video and post, you’ll find the full breakdown, a few outfits, and some guidelines to get you started.

Pick Your Color Palette
Neutrals are simplest, of course, to start with, but once you get the hang of it, adding color allows you to create a custom capsule that feels like you. 3 neutrals and 2 pop colors is a good place to start!
Limit Pattern to One Category
The key with a capsule is that you want as many combinations as possible. One way to create this kind of versatility is by limiting the pattern, and even the color, to one category. For example, choose patterned/colorful jackets OR tops OR bottoms.
Aim for Variety
Unless you’re creating a capsule for a specific purpose (i.e. work or weekend), aim for a variety of formality levels, fabrics and styles to create a versatile wardrobe that can be dressed up or down.
Fill in The Gaps With Basics
Consider rounding out your capsule with a couple of basics, like neutral tees and a pair of jeans.
Try On The Outfit Combinations
A combination that looks good on paper doesn’t always translate to real life, so try on all the outfit combinations and take pics of each one. Afterward, when you’re relaxed, flip through them and choose your faves.
Now that I’ve laid the groundwork for the capsule, I’m excited to show you the fall/winter capsule wardrobe I created featuring pieces from Petite Studio. Petite Studio offers elegant, high-quality pieces crafter of luxurious fabrics that create the quiet luxury look that so many of us are after. And they’re sized for Petites! Use my code Nada15 (during non-sale times) for 15% off sitewide.
And now, for the capsule. It consists of 8 tops, 5 bottoms, 5 completer pieces, a dress, and an accessory.
