Sometimes all of this style talk can make us feel like a great wardrobe is a lot of work. I get it. And sometimes, it can be. We all have items in our closets that feel like a lot of work.
This video is not about those items.
Instead, we’re talking about the easy pieces, the fun pieces, the instant-confidence-boosting pieces. I call these the wardrobe heroes.
Do you work for your wardrobe or does your wardrobe work for you?
A wardrobe hero does the work for you.

Wardrobe heroes are easy and effortless and check all of the boxes and make getting dressed feel easy-breezy and even enjoyable. Let’s dissect what makes a wardrobe hero so, well, heroic.
A Wardrobe Hero Transcends Trends
This doesn’t mean that it’s classic or timeless, although it can be. It can be classic or cool or chic or edgy or creative, but it’s the type of piece you will continue to wear for years, either because of it’s uniqueness or its versatility or just because it makes you feel amazing.
A Wardrobe Hero Broadcasts Your Personal Style
One of the reasons we tend to hang on to wardrobe heroes is because they feel like us. They are so connected to our personal style and feel like a part of us and not just a part of our wardrobes. The dress that you’ve had for years and that never fails to bring compliments and make you feel fabulous is a wardrobe hero because it brings out your best, and tells the world something about your style.
A Wardrobe Hero Makes You Feel Unstoppable
One of the key signs of a wardrobe hero is that it makes you feel confident, every single time you put it on. You feel pretty and powerful and interesting and chic and whatever else you want to feel. You don’t mess with it and fuss with it and feel distracted by it. It’s just easy, instant happiness. Rid yourself of the clothes that feel heavy, that feel like a lot of work.
A Wardrobe Hero Can Be A Staple Or A Statement
A wardrobe hero can be that perfect pair of neutral pants that looks great with all of your tops, makes your stomach look flatter, and is comfortable enough to curl up in. Or it can be that fab printed dress that you bought on a trip to Mexico that feels fun and funky and brings out the color in your eyes. Both of these are wardrobe heroes, but for different reasons.
To sum it up, a wardrobe hero is something you love to wear.

And now, let me introduce you to a few of my own wardrobe heroes. I’ve focused primarily on my statement heroes for the purpose of this video, but I would also put this LilySilk blouse and these ridiculously comfortable and flattering pants in the same category.

And now, an exercise for you: If I were a (insert category here – shoe, dress, bag, pair of pants), I would be ____________________.
That item is your wardrobe hero. Like I said in the caption, if I were a top, I would be the Trina Turk red top, above.
And now that I’ve shown you my wardrobe heroes, I would love to hear about yours. What are the perfect go-to items in your wardrobe that never disappoint? Let me know in the comments!
