I think makeup may be more important to me than clothes. It was definitely my first love, and the reason I started my magazine career as a beauty editor. I always understood, from a young age, that makeup had that magical before-and-after power that clothes just don’t always have. It’s linked to mood as well, and that’s shown in many studies. Stop wearing your lipstick? You may be depressed. Sounds simplistic (and it is) but there is also truth to the fact that the outside is often a reflection of the inside.
Even in 2022, when it seems that everything has changed, the transformative power of makeup has not. But since we are modern and busy and demanding and all the things, we need makeup that’s simple and streamlined and effective and good for our skin.
That’s why I’m obsessed with Merit Beauty. Merit is easy and elegant and effortless. And you can check it out right here: https://muse.meritbeauty.com/nada2
Why do I love it? Here are just a few of the reasons…
- Merit‘s Complexion and Cheek products are seamless on your skin, so you can see your skin texture. They truly look so natural.
- They’re clean and vegan and cruelty-free.
- They’re pretty and portable and can be applied anywhere.
Today, I share a simple tutorial for a fresh, elegant, and glowing 5-minute face with Merit Beauty featuring their newest set, The Base Set.

Step 1: Perfect The Complexion
After skincare, apply the Minimalist just where you need it. This can be all over, as I like to use it, or you can apply it here and there where you need extra coverage. This is a foundation and a concealer in one so you can use it all over your face. Blend with Brush No. 1.

Step 2: Add A Golden Glow
Next, I apply a little of the no-fuss Bronzing Balm to my forehead, cheekbones, and chin. This sheer lightweight color adds glow and a golden quality to your skin without looking fake or heavy.

Step 3: Freshen Up With Color
My next step is to dot the Flush Balm on the apples of my cheeks and blend with Brush No. 1. It gives a little life and color to my complexion.

Step 4: Define Your Eyes
A quick swipe of the Brown 1980 Volumizing Pomade and The Clean Lash Mascara is all you need to add definition to your eyes and make them pop.

Step 5: Add Some Polish
A little bit of lip color is the essential last step. The Signature Lip is weightless and moisturizing.

I’m so glad you love it as much as I do! It’s such an exceptional line with amazing quality and ingredients! Which colors are you using?

I love Merit products. I purchased the whole set after your last demonstration. It’s everything that you say it
is. The only thing that I haven’t used is the highlighter. I’m getting older and have natural sculpting due to fat loss in my cheeks. I just made a new order from Sephora which is convenient. Thanks for making me aware of these awesome products! Sherry
