There’s never a bad time for a beach getaway, but more of us seem to head to tropical locations in the summertime when we’re guaranteed balmy breezes and plenty of sunshine. And because I passionately believe that packing for your trip should be almost as relaxing as soaking up the sun, I’ve created a video and catalog with some of my favorite finds for your beach trip, as well as a downloadable packing list.
Here, what to pack for your beach vacation. You can find everything featured in the video and the blog post in my Beach Vacation Catalog.
Bathing Suits/Coverups
Expect to pack at least two bathing suits regardless of the length of your trip, so that one can dry while you wear the other. As for coverups, you can go for a full coverup (like a dress or kimono) or a coverup skirt/pants worn over the suit. Or, if you have the space, you can pack both. A button-down white gauzy shirt is a great classic coverup for every suit and style.

Neutral Maxi or Midi Dress
A neutral dress in a maxi or midi length is versatile, stylish, and a perfect addition to your beach wardrobe.

Neutral Shorts
A couple of pairs of shorts are just the thing to slip on over a bathing suit before a walk or as the base of a casual outfit. Choose a denim pair and one neutral pair, to start.

Linen Joggers or Beach Pants
A pair of palazzos or joggers in lightweight linen or gauzy cotton is a perfect beach essential, and also works as part of your travel outfit.

Neutral Tees
A couple of tees in neutral colors work as tops, over a bathing suit, and even as sleep shirts.

Sweater or Sweatshirt
A cozy sweater to layer over strappy pieces or throw on when the night gets cool is a beach vacation essential.

Fun Dress

Fun Tops
Pack a couple of fun statement tops to add interest to your shorts and breezy pants.

Pajamas/Lounge Set
Pajamas that do double duty as loungewear are essential for any trip.

Lightweight Wrap
Perfect as a blanket for the plane or to cover your shoulders in chilly restaurants.

Shoes
Plan to take at least one pair of flat strappy sandals or slides, preferably in leather for versatility, and one pair of metallic espadrilles. Add printed wedges or flip-flops if space permits.

Bags
A carry-on that is versatile enough to double as a beach bag is a vacation essential. Inside, slip a wristlet or clutch that doubles as a wallet and a small purse.

Accessories
Accessories add style and also functionality to your beach travel wardrobe. Sun protection essentials include a pair of inexpensive sunglasses, a packable straw hat, a great smelling sunscreen (can double as your fragrance) and even a sunprotective parasol/umbrella.

I stay away from beaches. Nothing about that interests me.
But, these are great tips for any summer trips.
Thank you!
