September 24 is my husband’s birthday, a date that has unofficially been the start of fall, in my mind. Even the Florida weather is catching on. Yesterday morning, I thought I felt a breeze, but by the time I noticed it, it was gone.
That’s how fall in Florida is. One 75-degree morning, followed by two more months of heat and humidity. 🙂
I’m not going to let the heat stop me from planning my fall outfits, however, and looking ahead at a season filled with fun and festivities. Planning outfits for whatever the season may bring means that you’re ready for anything and never scrambling for a last-minute look, making an unplanned (and expensive) run to the store, or settling for an outfit that makes you feel less than your cutest self.
For me, fall is packed with everything from speaking engagements to fall festivals to church activities, and so I thought it might be fun, and helpful, to brainstorm outfit ideas for all of these events. The idea behind outfit formulas is not to run out and buy everything you see in these pictures, but to use them as inspiration to work with the items in your own wardrobe, maybe adding a versatile piece or two to tie everything together.
Here, 7 fall outfits to take you everywhere you’re going this fall. And, as usual, everything you see in these outfits is in one handy-dandy catalog.
WORK MEETING OR PRESENTATION
A classic blazer layered over a sweater dress (or any solid neutral dress) is an easy and polished look for work in a more relaxed workplace, and it transitions nicely to dinner afterward. Simply slip off the blazer and swap out the accessories.
Outfit Formula #1
Dress + Blazer + Pumps + Structured Bag + Hoops

Weekend
A casual-yet-chic look for a weekend of errands, coffee dates, and kids’ activities, this outfit is comfortable enough to hang out in yet cute enough to accept that last-minute invite.
Outfit Formula #2:
Patterned sweater + Jeans + Flats + Tote + Pretty Earrings

Church
Early and busy Sunday mornings require a one-and-done solution that is pretty yet polished. A dress or a jumpsuit is always my go-to.
Outfit Formula #3
Jumpsuit (or dress!) + Feminine shoes + Pretty Necklace + Hoops + Everyday bag

Fall Festival
Pumpkin patches, fairs, and other fun outdoor fall events call for something festive enough to put you in the fall mood, but subtle enough to still be stylish. This outfit checks all of those boxes.
Outfit Formula #4
Plaid top/jacket + Jeans + Hat + Boots + Jewelry

Date Night
Go for a feminine, flirty look with an off-the-shoulder top paired with sleek faux leather pants, strappy heels and an elegant clutch
Outfit Formula #5
Feminine top + Leather pants + Strappy shoes + Clutch + Pretty jewelry

Wedding
Being ready for any event is one of the keys to great style, and a simple but classic jewel tone dress works for a number of fall occasions, from weddings to cocktail parties to church. Add glam accessories to make it special-occasion-worthy. You can check out my recent fall wedding look right here.
Outfit Formula #6
Jewel tone dress + Strappy shoes + Pretty clutch + Dressy jewelry

Girls’ Night Out
Choose a fun, feminine look for a night out with friends, a weekend brunch date, or the women’s ministry event at church. The lace top, a key staple this season, dresses up a favorite pair of jeans. Add fun accessories and you’re ready.
Outfit Formula #7
Feminine top + Jeans + Embellished flats + Trendy bag + Girly jewelry
