I have an approach to shopping that I like to call focused flexibility. This means that I never go shopping without a plan or a wish list, but I also stay open to fun finds and special surprises.
This basically means I can buy whatever I want.
Kind of. It does mean that I allow myself to occasionally grab an impulse item IF it checks all of the other boxes.
Like the time about a month ago when I went to our local Marshall’s to buy shorts, and ended up picking up a beautiful Farm Rio maxidress that just made me so happy.
And don’t we all need a little more happiness these days?
The need for a little distraction and some retail therapy is what led to the online shopping that I did for this video/post. I just needed a pick-me-up, and my wardrobe needed a few basics. My wishlist included:
- Fun new summer earrings (especially one in straw/rattan)
- Black espadrilles with ties around the ankle
- Black sandals
- Metallic mules
- Summer tops
- Casual dresses
- Dressy white shorts
Fortunately, as you’ll see in the video, I was able to find most of these items. I started shopping on TJMaxx.com when I went to search for an item for a client, and fell into the rabbit hole of shoe shopping. Oh, my! I haven’t spent that much time on TJMaxx.com in the past, but it will be from now on. One of the perks is that I can shop a larger selection online, and return what doesn’t work locally. I live in a smallish town where not everything is available, so this is so helpful!
Here’s what I ordered from TJ Maxx!
And here’s what I received in my ThredUp Goody Box!
Can you guess what I kept and what I returned? Read on for the spoiler…
From the TJ Maxx haul, I kept everything but the flat black Joie sandals, and only because they were too wide for my feet. Everything else was a win! From the ThredUp box, I kept the animal print skirt, the orange dress, the navy floral dress, the striped top, and the peplum top.
What do you think of my finds? Which were your faves? And what’s on your shopping list for summer? Let me know in the comments here or on YouTube!
