Best Skincare Products You’ve Never Heard Of

January 15, 2016 By: Nada Manleycomment

Why are so many of my favorite products packaged in lavender boxes and bottles? I mean, my beauty product collection is legendary, but could companies actually be packaging their products to match my Art Deco bathroom? Thank you, world, for allowing my hoarding to look like decorating.

Now let’s talk about skincare, which is a favorite subject of mine, because, well, I have skin all over my body and it doesn’t always behave the way I want it to. And these products help. I know, because I’ve used every single one. So here, my short list of the best skincare products you’ve never heard of.

Dermaflage

Okay, this stuff is seriously so amazing. It’s a silicone filler that goes on quickly and fills in acne scars, medical scars and other imperfections. And it’s totally undetectable. I’ve enjoyed using it on the little scar near my eyebrow that was the result of a car accident, but for people who suffer from serious scarring, this product could be a real game changer!

Embryolisse Micellar Lotion

Omygoodness. I haven’t been this excited since Elnett Satin Hairspray became available in the U.S. again (after a 20 year hiatus) and I could stop smuggling it in on trips overseas. When I first saw it on an American shelf, I’m not going to lie – I shed a tear. And I don’t even use hairspray. So you can imagine my excitement when I discovered that one of my favorite French lines is now going to be sold at one of my favorite places on earth, Target. Embryolisse has been around since 1950, and I have stocked up on their products anytime I can, especially the Micellar Lotion. Most European skincare lines have a similar product, because they’re not as infatuated with the whole cleanse-and-rinse thing as we are. Micellar Lotion is a super gentle rinse-free skin cleanser and makeup remover that works for all skin types, kind of like the recent American version everyone has been buzzing about.

100% Natural Jojoba and Rosehip Oil

I already have a bit of an obsession with face and body oils, so when this pretty purple bottle turned up, I was dying to try it. I am so in love! The scent and the oil are light and heavenly. It removes that dry, tight feeling that my face sometimes gets during our Florida “winter”, and absorbs quickly and completely. Sure, jojoba oil is known to help wrinkles and scarring, but it also makes my skin glow. Love.

Onomie Bright Concealing Elixir

Onomie is a new-ish line that combines skincare with makeup, so this product actually falls into both categories. It’s an eye cream that doubles as a concealer, and it’s pretty incredible. I have always had dark circles under my eyes, and this product does double duty, saving me a step. I also love the selection of shades and the shade finder tool. Mine is called Zhao, a medium beige with cool/neutral undertones that is literally the perfect color for me.

Freeze 24-7 Skin Glace

I love everything about this cleanser. It is so light and smells fresh and removes makeup effectively, but the best part is that it doubles as a pore-unclogging mask. I often smooth it on, and leave it while I brush my teeth. It foams and tingles but in the gentlest way, and when you rinse it, your skin feels soft and fresh and slightly matte.

SkinMedica TNS Recovery Complex

Yes, this product is expensive. Very expensive. There’s no getting around it. I can’t explain the science, but it contains all sorts of amazing rejuvenating ingredients, and it’s the single product that my dermatologist, Dr. Michelle Foley, recommended I use after my recent series of rejuvenating treatments. (Read all about it in my post, How to Turn Back the Clock (without surgery!). It truly seems to help sagging and fine lines.

Rodan + Fields Active Hdyration Serum

Okay, so the secret is out about Rodan + Fields, but you may not be familiar with this one product, and it’s my very fave. The Active Hydration Serum works for every single skin, at every single age. Because we all need hydration. This oil-free serum absorbs instantly, leaving skin glowing and enhancing the effectiveness of the rest of your skincare routine.

So which of these products do you want to try? And which under-the-radar skincare products are on your own short list? I’d love to hear about them!
