I’m just going to be honest here. I am tired. All. The. Time. Maybe it’s because I’m a brand new homeschooler or because I have two very active daughters or because I’m getting older by the second or because I am running an online business but I am pretty much always exhausted. How’s that for a pep talk? So no one understands the appeal of staying in pajamas (or workout wear without the benefit of a workout) more than I do.
I don’t even have dropoffs this year, you guys. That means there are days when I could conceivably stay in my PJs until noon, and, you know, no one would notice. Okay, I only have one day I could do that – Monday – but you get the point. Here’s the thing, though. I would notice. And maybe more importantly, my girls would notice. I want them to see me taking care of myself and looking cute. They don’t miss a single thing. The one time I wore my really cute sweats to hang around the house on a rare lazy Sunday afternoon, the girls thought they were PJs. So I ditched them. Even though they were from Anthropologie.
So what’s a tired, crazy-busy mama to do? I’ll tell you. Throw on a dress. Because, and I’m not going to lie, I have about 3 seconds to get ready in the morning, and a dress is one single piece. That’s it. If you’ve picked it the night before, it takes no time to throw one on. So yes I wear dresses because they’re cute and stylish and girly, but also because I’m tired and rushed and a little lazy.
A dress looks like you tried. You showed up. You made an effort. Add a necklace, perhaps, or your everyday stack of bracelets, and a pair of shoes, and you are way ahead of the game. As it gets colder, throw on tights, boots and a snuggly cardigan over the top and you can go almost anywhere. So why not dress to impress? Plaid Fit and Flare
This sweet and simple style in the silhouette and the print of the season is trendy without being too of-the-moment. It’s flattering for all types, but especially gorgeous on a Style Dial 2.
Divine Denim
A lot of chambray frocks are baggy and shapeless, but this one is super-flattering and still easy to wear. The vertical neckline and softly pleated waist make it ideal for a Style Dial 1, a Style Dial 3, or a Style Dial 1 (3).
Classic Sweaterdress
Nothing makes me happier than a sweaterdress in cold weather, and this sleek, simple style can be dressed up or down. I love the white trim at the neck and sleeves. The fit and flare shape makes it flattering for almost everyone. It’s a natural for a Style Dial 2, but with a long necklace, other body types could pull it off as well.
Black Beauty
This dress is equally at home with flats or boots as it is with pumps on date night. Best for a Style Dial 1 or a Style Dial 3, it’s timeless and well-priced!
Cozy Cashmere
Sure, this dress is a splurge, but it’s so chic and so cuddly at the same time it might be worth passing on a couple of those little trendy items you weren’t wild about anyway and working this into your budget. A Style Dial 1 or a 3 would wear this all season long, but if you’re busty, it’s a good idea to pass on turtlenecks.
Fun and Flowy
This soft, pretty dress features a stylish print and an easy, flattering shape that will flatter a Style Dial 2 or a 2 (3). Wear it with boots, tights and your cozy cardigan or a heels on a special night out. So versatile.
