Sometimes a girl just needs a dose of fast, frugal fashion. That’s why I love Marshall’s. Today, I stopped in for a quick look around and left with Kate Spade wedges, a darling dress for Lola, and slip-on shoes for my husband from retro chic label Penguin. And still I showed a considerable amount of restraint, reluctantly passing on Kate Spade wedding sandals and Coach pumps and a black Juicy bikini and zillions of cute maxis. I mean zillions. I know. I am proud of myself, too.
But Marshall’s, TJ Maxx and Ross aren’t the only sources for cheap chic. As a stylist, I do a lot of shopping. It’s an occupational hazard. 😉 And so I’ve discovered some of the best sources to get a fast, frugal fashion fix. These sites are my go-to sources for cheap chic, and they also boast great quality and good service. So today’s task – browse one of my 5 best sites for stylish steals, or check out a local sale, and pick a couple of pieces that just make you smile. Because nothing puts a spring in your step like a pretty new dress. Or 12.
Here, 5 fabulous finds from the 5 best sites.
(As always, pictures are linked for easy shopping. You’re welcome.)
1. Downeast Basics
Fresh, feminine pieces with a slightly retro vibe, Downeast Basics offers cute, affordable chic swim, women’s and girl’s clothing. Merchandise is updated regularly, so you’ll always find something new!
2. & Other Stories
This fast-fashion brand is owned by the same company as H&M, but the prices, and quality, are a little higher. When I first discovered it, I was blown away by all of the stylish, affordable pieces, and I kind of wanted to keep it to myself. It felt like this amazing, secret resource. Fortunately, I love to share. I’m not alone in my infatuation, as it’s quickly become a favorite of celebs, stylists, and influencers.
3. Uniqlo
This Japanese brand offers amazing basics at equally amazing prices. Think of it as your insider answer to Old Navy. Their designer collaborations are also inspired. French fashion icon Ines de la Fressange does a capsule collection every season with the brand, and this spring’s J.W. Anderson collaboration is a big deal, and produced the look shown here.
4. Storets
This American site has already appeared all over your Insta-feed, and it’s a great source for well-priced. well-made clothes and accessories. I’m a big fan of their office-ready looks, as well as coats, shoes, and jewelry. This is a great place to find a fun, trendy new piece, and not as much a source for staples or basics.
5. Need Supply Co.
Need Supply Company carries a wide variety of hip brands, from higher end lines like Rachel Comey and By Far to more affordable labels like Farrow and the site’s own label.
I hope you’ve discovered some new fun new sources for fabulous style, at prices that will make taking a fashion risk seem a little less, well, risky. Happy shopping!
