If you ask me about this tomorrow, I will deny it, but I am starting to think that very expensive kids clothes may not always be a wise investment. Don’t get me wrong. I am as happy to drop $200 on a tiny dress that will be worn one time as much as the next mom, but sometimes – and this is rare – I pause to reconsider. And when I do I worry. I worry that they will eat/play/breathe/poop and destroy the tres mignon ensemble before we leave the house. Or, at at the very least, before I snap a picture for proof that, for one moment, Eva’s headband sat on top of her head instead of directly in her line of vision and that the dress, shoes, and headband all matched. Or maybe the darling outfit will itch. Or the girls will inconveniently grow. Or, horror of horrors, they will despise the expensive ensemble, sullenly put it on and sulk during the Christmas photos. Not that my girls would ever…
Anyway, sometimes you just want something adorable and affordable, something that doesn’t feel like such a commitment. The wow without the wince. Still suitable, of course, for parties and pictures and present-opening, but also, afterwards, for sticky caramel apples and rolling around in the yard with the cousins. Here, some of the most stylish affordable holiday clothes for kids – and nothing is more than $20. Because I adore a challenge. Especially one that involves shopping.
