Occasionally, I like to challenge myself in some way. Usually, it is with shopping. Fortunately, I’ve never been one to let myself down. Just last week, for example, I found 2 pairs of Kate Spade pumps on clearance at Marshall’s. And they were in my size, which is totally optional but fun fun fun when it happens. I know. Pretty amazing. And while I can’t promise these kinds of results every time (I’m a trained professional, after all), I can certainly help you in your quest to find the perfect fall wardrobe.
You may not be a professional shopper, but there’s no reason you can’t shop like one. All it takes are a few tricks up your sleeve. One of the ways that stylists keep things current is by honing in on a few key trends that fit your lifestyle and flatter your figure, and then balancing those items with pieces that will last. And that’s exactly what I did with my One Stop Shopping series, which is going to become kind of a regular thing. Basically, I’m showing you all of my top picks of the season from a single retailer, in a single place. In the last couple of weeks, I’ve culled the best budget-friendly items of the season from Target and Loft. Today, we are going to spend a little more on our fantasy fall shopping trip to J. Crew, but it will be so worth it!
Admittedly, I have a bit of a thing for J. Crew. And I know I’m not alone. Maybe it’s the artful styling, the cool-girl half-tucks, the cuffed shirts and jeans, the luxe layers. Maybe it’s the fact that, as luxe as some of the items are, when worn properly, they always appear effortless and never precious. Whatever the reason, I’m hooked. One look at this board and it’s easy to see why.
Though my obsession with J. Crew runs deep, I try not to feel too guilty about it. After all, the quality is pretty amazing, so if you choose well, you’ll be wearing some of these items for years to come. I am still wearing embellished tees, merino cardigans and jackets from J. Crew that I bought years ago. And since J. Crew is spendier than either Target or Loft, I’ve only included a couple of items on this list that truly quality as trendy: the sweatpants, the mixed media sweater, and, depending on your aesthetic, the boyfriend jean. The tee with the words on it, while definitely of-the-moment, is subtle enough to last for seasons to come.
Your new J. Crew fall wardrobe has it all: a go-everywhere tote and two clutches, 6 pairs of shoes, including the same gorgeous pair of boots in black and brown, jeans, jewelry, a jacket, and a dress that can go from work to play to cocktails. Most of the items are budget friendly, and naturally, you can mix and match them to create countless cute ouftits for lunches and lazy days, meetings and dinner dates. Which of these pieces is your favorite?
