The Anthropologie Cheat Sheet: What to Buy this Summer

July 14, 2014 By: Nada Manley1 Comment

Anthropologie is one of my favorite stores, but sometimes the sheer prettiness can get overwhelming. You want to buy it all, and either do, or leave with nothing. I can help. I’ve assembled a selection of wardrobe changers – those items that flatter beautifully and fit seamlessly into the life of a busy mom-on-the-go. These are the pieces you will reach for again and again, the seasonal updates that you will buy now and wear for seasons to come. But first, a few (gentle) reminders.

1. Volume is for tall girls. That is all.

2. Know your names. If you have the opportunity to snap up a dress from Byron Lars, Tracy Reese, or Yoana Baraschi, go for it. There is a reason they are famous. Need proof? Check out this gem from Lars. Then buy it.

3. Balance fun and frills with functional pieces. And if the functional pieces are also frill-ing, well, that’s just a bonus.

Need some more suggestions. This selection of carefully curated staples and soon-to-be-favorites should help you get your Anthropologie fix for summer 2014. Don’t go shopping without it.

BeautyMommy Summer Shopping Guide: What to Buy from Anthropologie

Clu & Willoughby “Falda” tank, $68: Swingy, sweet and super forgiving.

Farylrobin “Minata” wedges, $138: Comfort + style. These might be the only shoes you need to pack for summer vacation.

“Ainsley” sunglasses, $42: Statement sunnies at an easy price.

“Regatta” hoops, $52: Better than basic.

Citizens of Humanity “Kai” crops, $188: Crops that are hip, not mumsy.

Cloth & Stone “Hudson” shirtdress, $148: An effortless silhouette that is always chic.

Yoana Baraschi “Rhona” stitched peasant dress, $148: So pretty, so easy, and goes everywhere this season.

Cayucos fringed sandals, $78: Wear these everywhere, with everything.

“Guinevere” hat, $38: Lots of drama for a small price.

Splendid “Raleigh” tote, $368: A chic, neutral tote is a summertime essential.

Pure Nature Sunfade maxi dress: Effortless, in my opinion, means a dress that can slip on in an instant – no special undergarments required, including a strapless bra. Gorgeous.

Sundry Palm Print sweatpants, $103: Chic sweats. You’re welcome!

Cartonnier Scalloped Sailor shorts, $78: Chic shorts that take you from the beach to lunch with friends.
