When I was approached by a glamorous, doting aunt to help her find organic nursing attire for her superhero sister-in-law, Sarah Michael, I jumped at the opportunity to live vicariously through this amazing new mama. I am one of those (rare?) women who adored nursing. Adored it. Maybe that’s because it was the only aspect of motherhood that came easily to me. It took me 5 years to get pregnant. And then I had two breech babies followed by two c-sections. I was a fumbling, sleepy, uncertain mess of a new mom, but the nursing thing, I could do. And I did it a lot. I nursed when they were hungry. I nursed when they weren’t. I nursed them to sleep. I nursed them in the back seat of my car, leaning over their car seats like a contortionist, while my husband drove on in disbelief. I nursed Lola so much that my sister and mom feared that her little neck would be turned in the direction of my breast. Like I said, I nursed a lot.
Nursing, I could do. Shopping for it, on the other hand, was a struggle. I couldn’t find anything locally, so I ordered massive quantities of organic nursing pads and creams and gowns online. So I jumped at the chance to do it again, this time for new mamas everywhere who may not have the time to go digging for the items they need. So here it is, my comprehensive list to all the green gear you’ll ever need for nursing. And then some. š And for all the items on this page, and more to come, follow this Pinterest board!

Organic Nursing Cover by Haven, $42: If you’re anything like me, your nursing cover may be the only thing anyone ever sees of your outfit for the first 6 months of your baby’s life, so make it cute. š
Organic Nursing Pads, $11.29/2 6-packs:Ā These are washable, so they’re eco-friendly. And you may want to consider a thicker, super-soft pair for overnight.
