Motherhood has changed a lot of things for me. These days, I am more likely to be wearing skinny jeans, knits and wedges than silk dresses and stilettos. But years of shoving my feet into pointy shoes have taken their toll. My right foot hurts approximately 95% of the time. That’s kind of a lot. And they hurt all the time, even when I am barefoot. Still, wedges and pumps are my go-to shoe styles. And although summer is flip flop season, I normally reserve the most casual styles for trips to the beach.
When I decided to take on the challenge of styling foot-friendly flip flops from Orthaheel sandals, I decided to think outside of the casual flip flop box. One of my go-to errand looks is a comfy knit dress with a cardigan (Florida summers are impossibly hot outside, icy inside). It’s comfortable, stylish and a step up from shorts. I chose the Hampton Toe Post Sandal because I liked the stripes and the preppy feel, and paired them with a Cacharel dress, Tahari cardigan, and enamel link necklace from Target. The hair went back, because, frankly, it needed to, and, at the last minute, I borrowed sunglasses from my friend/photographer Erin, who was enlisted during a playdate.
Here are the Hampton sandals:
And here is how I styled them:
