This morning, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to appear on the popular Jacksonville-area show, First Coast Living. But let me back up. When I received confirmation on Friday that I would be shooting the (live!) segment today, my first thought was, naturally, what I was going to wear. Here are the rules, roughly , for appearing on TV:
No white
No small prints
No stripes (can appear wavy)
And, according to some sources:
No black
No red or orange or very saturated shades
No pastels
Belted dress and skirt/shirt is preferable (for hooking the mike)
Nothing too short, too low, too flashy, too dull…
That pretty much eliminated everything in my wardrobe. 😉 With those parameters in mind, I narrowed it to three options:
1. Miu Miu Silk Dress:
Drawbacks: White background, print too wavy (?), nothing to hook mike on
2. BCBG Dress
Drawbacks: A little short, not very exciting
3. Diane von Furstenberg dress
Drawbacks: black and white, print could be wavy on screen
Watch the video to see which one I chose, and let me know if you think I made the right choice!
Okay, so at the last minute, I ditched all of these options in favor of a safe, but hopefully still striking, cobalt blue DVF dress. It’s my standby.
The makeup was simpler: For face, I used Simply Perfect HD Foundation, Giorgio Armani highlighter, Estee Lauder blush and bronzer, Lancome eyeshadow trio on my eyes, black Lancome Le Crayon Kohl, Estee Lauder Lash Primer and mascara, Mary Kay powder, and Urban Decay Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in Punch Drunk (orange).
