So Halloween is merely a couple of weeks away, and I have yet to buy Halloween costumes for either of my girls. There are a couple of reasons for this: Eva is so picky that one misstep might mean an unworn costume, and a ruined Halloween. Lola, the easygoing one, is also the most indecisive child on the planet, and with every flip of a catalog page, she sees something else she absolutely must wear. So, here are my options so far, for each of my girls.
Eva:
Tinkerbell: As Eva will tell anyone who will listen, “Tink’bell my favwit princess!” I am trying to steer her away from this one, because she went as Tinkerbell last year.
Rapunzel: A new favorite – Eva insists on the wig with the braid, not with the hair down. I haven’t checked out the costumes, but a friend tells me that the Disney store has the authentic ones, so I am going to bypass the Target version and go for the real thing is this is what she settles on.
Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz: Surprisingly, my girly girl, who never asks to wear blue, spotted this costume in Chasing Fireflies and loved it immediately. She loves the movie, of course, and it’s funny because all 3 of my sister’s girls went as Dorothy for their first Halloweens.
Alice in Wonderland: Eva spotted this one in the same catalog, and was briefly taken with it, because the girl in the picture reminded her of her big friend, Ne-yanee (Nelanee), who is 4.
Pottery Barn Owl: She keeps coming back to this one, maybe because she’s obsessed with babies and the child in the catalog looks young. Neither of us knew what this was at first, but it is very cute! Too bad it’s no longer available! : (
Lola:
As I mentioned, Lola changes her mind with the wind, but these are a few that are on her radar, all from Chasing Fireflies, since that’s the catalog I have lying around and I’m trying to talk her into one of their stunning costumes, like Marie Antoinette.
Candy Cane Fairy
Personalized Pink Lady Costume
Cha Cha Dancer
Watermelon fairy
Aaaaghhhh!! Glinda the Good Witch is sold out in child’s sizes. I can’t even find a picture, and it was Lola’s top choice.
My husband just helpfully pointed out that it’s a little late to be shopping for costumes. Grrrr…. Perhaps if my daughters had my decisiveness, I wouldn’t be in this predicament. But that’s a story for another blog. 🙂
