I was lucky enough to have lunch with a very stylish friend, MaiLoan, last week. As the mother of two-month-old twin daughters and a two year old son, she doesn’t have a lot of extra time on her hands, so I felt lucky to get to spend some time with her! She mentioned that she wanted to decorate a shared playspace for her kids, and that she loved the playroom I decorated (with the help of my chic designer friend Michele McCarthy!) for my girls. See the pictures above. We discussed my favorite elements of my girls playroom, which includes the Cushy Lounger from Pottery Barn Teen. I love the wipe-clean microfiber upholstery, the comfort and quality, and the fact that they are quite low to the ground, making them safe for little climbers. I am also obsessed with my FLOR carpet tiles (Toy Poodle texture in Princess Pink). Nothing is better than a chic, affordable floor covering that’s also superpractical – if a tile gets damaged or soiled (like in Eva’s infamous explosive diaper incident of 2009), I simply pull it up and replace it. Brilliant! The other item I love is the Cameron shelving system from Pottery Barn Kids. I love that it’s adaptable, and that you can constantly reconfigure it to suit your needs.
MaiLoan’s vision for her playspace is one that is girly enough for the girls and neutral enough for her son, Chase. So I decided to research the topic of shared playrooms, and astonishingly, I came across this blog post on the Homegoods website about this very topic, and the recommendations included all three of the items I just mentioned. What are the odds?
