I’m trying hard to make this blog more boy-friendly, but it’s hard when your brain is filled with tutus and tiaras! Today, though, the focus is on the hippest shoe brands for the new school year – all of which offer cool kicks for boys and girls!
1. Simple: This California-based brand makes cool, comfy sneakers for men, women, and kids with unique details. I love the Take On Ribbon Metallic for girls, $45, a subtly sparkly style with ribbon laces, and the boys Carport Elastic, $42, shown.
2. Bogs: This brand offers stylish rubber rainboots and rain shoes for the entire family, and they’re packed with great features: colorful rubber exteriors and non-marking soles that release dirt. I just bought this adorable pair for Lola!
3. Sperry Top Sider: This retro brand has seen a revival due to fashion’s current obsession with all things preppy. I love their playful wedges for moms, and the colorful plaid and metallic boat shoes for kids. These shiny pink ones, $50, are, naturally, my favorite.
4. Superga: This hip Italian label has been around for almost a century, and like Sperry, it’s enjoying a resurgence in popularity. Clean, classic style combines with comfort in these trendy shoes.
5. Hunter: These classic rubber rain boots are timeless and comfortable, making them ideal for pint-sized puddle jumpers. The glossy finish and bold colors make them fun. I love these Hunter Kids Young Hunter Original Gloss, $75.
