Tonight, we witnessed one of Lola’s most monumental meltdowns. The past few weeks have been challenging with her overall, but tonight was the culmination of it all. It started as we left my parents house, and it ended up with Lola asking for us to spank her when we threw it out as an empty threat. We don’t spank, and never have, and she knows it, so she was really pushing our buttons. We were all on edge, and even my dad, who is her biggest fan, lost his cool for a minute. It wiped me out, and it’s hard to think about anything else tonight. So now I am digging out the discipline books and starting down a whole new phase of discipline, because this is uncharted territory for us. If Jesus had written a discipline book, one with sound values and lots of love thrown in with the firmness, which would it be? I’m open to suggestions!

We have several discipline books- most of which I feel the need to bust out this week as the 2s have hit us hard. I’m thinking Dr. Sears is probably the most “loving.” We also have the Happiest Toddler on the Block, Dare to Discipline (that discusses spanking- which we don’t care for), and Toddler 411. I have also heard good things about 1-2-3 Magic, but we don’t have that one. Good luck! My mom told me 3 was worse than 2 for me…if that’s any help. I’ve just been telling myself lately-this too shall pass!
