We take a break from our regularly scheduled programming… I hate to kill the holiday buzz that has kept my blog going for the last few weeks, but I need to take a few days to clear my head, and my closet, from all the clutter that has been accumulating there, and I hope that you will accompany me! So think of this as an aside.
As soon as I am done, I will get back to holiday shopping, decorating, and general merrymaking, but for now, there is work to be done! My friend Yvonne (who I call Y), who is also a professional stylist, will be visiting my closet on Tuesday to help me get it under control, and to sift through the years of fashion fallout that I have stashed away in there. I have simultaneously dreaded and looked forward to her visit. There is nothing I hate more than going through my closet, after all, but the results – a well-organized, calm, clutter-free closet that will function for me – is going to be well worth it.
As you may know, I have often been called on by my own friends to help them with their closets. I visited and helped sift through the contents of my friend Dee’s closet about a week ago, and I have upcoming mall visits planned to help round out the wardrobes of my sister, Dee, and another beautiful friend, Marcie. I live for this stuff! I am stuck, however, when it comes to my own junk. I can’t see the forest for the tees. (Yes, that was a lame attempt at humor). I have only done two things to prepare myself for the mighty Y’s upcoming visit:
1. I have taken before pictures of the overstuffed disaster that is my closet. See tomorrow’s blog for the proof!
2. I have stopped shopping. Completely. Since I have returned from France, the only thing I have bought myself is an amazing necklace on a sample sale site. Otherwise, nothing for TWO MONTHS. (Lest you fear that I have come down with something serious, let me assure you that I haven’t stopped shopping. I’ve been shopping like crazy. For my girls. But that is the topic of a future blog!) I am looking forward to emerging from my newly organized closet with a list of essentials so that I can start shopping again!
Stay tuned as I offer tips, tricks, and suggestions on helping get your own closet from chaos to calm! I may post my first video, so that you can see part of the process yourself. And I will definitely be posting pictures! I’d love to hear your feedback!
