Tragically, due to a delayed flight, the Fabulous Y couldn’t join me today to tackle my closet, but don’t dismay. She will be joining me on Friday, when the real work begins! In the meantime, I was left to my own devices. So this afternoon, while the girls lounged around my room, wreaking havoc, I dove into a few drawers – the ones I keep my leggings and tees in. And they were a mess! Then I very very quickly skimmed my hanging clothes: the dresses, skirts, pants and tops, and immediately got rid of the most obvious offenders. It’s hard to accomplish too much when the girls are running around, but I made a little progress. Here were a few of the cuts that I made:
Tanks that are too short or too tight
Tees that are too baggy, too tight or too ratty
Clothes that were trendy at one time, but now appear stale or dated
Anything too cutesy or too ridiculously youthful
Anything that doesn’t fit properly or is unnecessarily uncomfortable
Lola lounging on my bed with her travel sleep set… Cleaning out mommy’s closet is exhausting! Below, some of the clothes that had to go!
Tennis dresses from Rebecca Beeson and Lilly Pulitzer that are either too short or too tight. And no, I don’t play tennis, though I like to imagine I do.
This BCBG dress is cuter off than on. It makes me look like a cupcake!
These printed, slightly pleated dresses and tops appear stale to me now – so last year!
Assorted tanks that I held on to because they were too cute or too expensive… Unfortunately they are all too short or too ill-fitting!
Lola held up this tiny pink tank and said, in the way that children have that just hits a problem on the head: “Is this yours? It doesn’t look like yours because it’s sooo small!”
Again, I just pulled out the obvious stuff, but it amounted to a big, healthy pile! I know Y will have many more cuts to make, and I’m ready! More than that, I’m ready for assessing what I do have, assembling some new looks from some old favorites, and then going shopping to fill in the gaps!
