Holiday Clothes for the Family, Part II

October 12, 2010 By: Nada Manley1 Comment

Okay, so you don’t like plaid. Or your son/daughter still refuses any of the picks in yesterday’s post. Don’t despair. I’ve done some serious digging and hit fashion gold, with hip holiday outfits that the pickiest dresser will love. They’re not too matchy-matchy, a little less traditional than my previous picks, and should make everyone happy. Including (with the possible exception of J. Crew), your wallet.

1. J.Crew: It’s no secret that I’m crazy about J. Crew’s layered, laid-back luxe. Fortunately, they’ve downsized some of their iconic looks so the littlest ones can pull them off. Your daughter will look beautiful in this classic washed velvet shift. Pair it with the Frill-Seeker cardigan in Blush Stone, $49.50, the Glamour Headband, $14.50, and the studded ballet flats in Bronzed Clay, $118. Your son might like the Sharkskin Suit Pant, $98, with the oversized gingham button-down, $39.50, and the cashmere v-neck in Bronzed Olive, on sale for $69.99.

2. Old Navy: Looking for coordinated looks on a budget? Old Navy is already affordable, but online only, they’re offering an extra 20% off until October 14! Old Navy has shirt and tie combos for boys for $17.55. I like the blue multi-stripe set with plain-front khakis in navy, $14.50, and this cool wool-blend pea coat, $49.50. Your daughter will dazzle in a gray sparkly sequined cardigan, $22.05, the metallic tulle skirt in silver, $17.55, glitter ballet flats in Christmas red, $16.50, and the bow necklace.

3. Target:
More affordable options turn up at Target. I love this classic red velvet party dress for little girls with the Delmi jeweled mary janes in silver, $16.99. Big brothers can be festive in a red-shirt-and-tie combo and black stripe dress pants, $17.99. I also like the Cherokee red plaid woven long-sleeved shirt, $9.99, worn with the French Toast navy v-neck sweater, $12.99
