We all have horror stories to relate about customer “service” gone horribly, horribly wrong. Whether mere mix-ups or ridiculous acts of rudeness, these are the scenarios that can keep us up at night. They are just so frustrating. I have my own list, of course, which now includes Totsy, the kids sample sale site that recently gave my sister the most absurd runaround, but I’ve decided to start another list. In the spirit of the season (Christmas, not Halloween) I am going to focus on the positive customer service experiences I’ve received recently, and report on them here. Here is my most recent. A couple of years ago, I purchased the Click Clack Tree from Plan Toys for one of my girls as a Christmas present. It’s a wooden tree with wooden balls that run along a track, sort of like a marble run. Well, for at least a year now, the tree has had no balls. We lost all five of them! So I finally went on the Plan Toys website and sent them a quick email, asking how I could purchase more balls. Less than 24 hours later, I received a warm, friendly response from a real human (in the U.S., since it’s an American company) informing me that she would be happy to send me some replacement balls, free of charge. And just a couple of days later, they arrived. My girls are thrilled, and so was I! It is so rare these days to experience such kind, hassle-free service that it can really make your day when it does happen! So kudos to Plan Toys for going above and beyond. I now recommend their beautifully made children’s toys to all of my friends. Do you have any of your own stories of extraordinary service, gracious customer service reps, or other unusual acts of corporate kindness? I’d love to hear about them!
