Okay, so I got off to a little bit of a late start to do the 100 Days til Christmas Countdown, but that isn’t going to make this any less interesting. Over the next few months, I am going to be blogging daily, offering everything you need to make your holidays more stylish, from amazing gift ideas to fashion finds for the whole family, plus top shopping sites, coupon codes, decorating and cooking ideas, and more!
Last Christmas, I spent hours scanning the internet for safe, non-toxic, all-natural play makeup for kids, to no avail. So I decided against buying the tempting, sparkly yet likely lethal stuff sold at all the major retailers. Unfortunately, somehow, that stuff made its way into our house, as gifts from well-meaning friends and family. And my girls love it. But when Eva ate her way through an entire tube of lip gloss on our flight back from France, I decided to renew my search. And this time, I found what I was looking for!
Luna Organics is a line of safe, non-toxic play makeup for kids. The line features everything from fun face paint (perfect for Halloween) to play makeup kits such as the Fancy Fairy Kit, with girly makeup in pretty packaging for petite princesses. I also love the party favor kits, which come in sets of 10. I think I am going to order these for Eva’s upcoming (December) birthday. They come in pretty little organza bags and should be a huge hit! I also love that these products are reasonably priced and don’t scream boring all natural (pretty packaging as opposed to plain cardboard!). I just placed an order for my daughters and nieces – they will make great stocking stuffers. They even offer products for tweens! The only problem I foresee: the makeup powders are loose, not pressed, which can lead to some pretty messy princess parties, but it will be well worth it to finally feel comfortable with the makeup my little girls are playing with!
Piggy Paint offers non-toxic, water-based, odorless nail polishes for kids that they bill as being “natural as mud.” Fortunately, they are also a lot more attractive. These adorably packaged polishes come in a gorgeous array of colors with kid-pleasing names like Angel Kisses, Sometimes Sweet and Mac-n-Cheese Please. They even offer a no-VOC nail polish remover and a line called Project Earth aimed at tweens. More great stocking stuffers – if I can wait until Christmas to give these to my girls!
Thanks for the nail polish tip. I can’t wait to show Pheona for her to pick her colors. I can finally bring my own polish for her pedicures.
